Aurora Dialogues Yerevan 2018

Inspire, Empower, Impact

‘Inspire, Empower, Impact’ – this year’s Aurora Dialogues in Yerevan took place with the support of the Federal Foreign Office and in collaboration with the Global Perspectives Initiative (GPI). Dr. Tom Catena, winner of the Aurora Prize in 2017, described in his opening statement what this year’s Dialogues meant to him: ‘I want to tell the young people: Take heart, you can do anything. There is a huge amount of suffering in the world. Take some of this suffering into yourself to help.’ A call for motivation and the identification of approaches for humanitarian engagement were the main issues. High-level decision-makers from civil society, business and politics such as former US Ambassador to the United Nations Samantha Power, former German Vice Chancellor and Minister of Economic Affairs Philipp Rösler or Médecins Sans Frontières Frontières co-Founder Bernard Kouchner, met to discuss and address the most urgent humanitarian issues of today’s world. The Aurora Dialogues Yerevan 2018 emphasized the importance of learning from the past, acting in the present and promoting a better future. A series of lectures and podium discussions explored how inspiration and empowerment can contribute to achieving lasting and sustainable impact.
