Climate Change and Migration in Sub-Saharan Africa: What are the Policy Options for Germany?
Parliamentary Breakfast with MP Christoph Matschie
Climate change is dramatically altering living and economic conditions in many regions of Africa: natural disasters such as floods and storms, but above all long-term developments such as persistent droughts, water shortages or rising sea levels are forcing people to leave their homes, seek shelter and secure their livelihoods elsewhere.
In December, high-level representatives from Africa and Europe discussed the African climate crisis at our GP Conference “Climate Change and Migration: Point of No Return?! An African Perspective”. We discussed the results with parliamentarians and reflected on options for action in German politics.
At the beginning of the meeting, we presented key findings together with:
Speakers:
- Nathalie Delapalme, CEO Mo Ibrahim Foundation
Moderation:
- Dr Ingrid Hamm, Co-Founder and CEO Global Perspectives Initiative
