The BMZ’s Africa Policy of the Upcoming Legislative Period

The core of Germany’s Africa policy is the continuous development of the BMZ’s „Marshall Plan with Africa“, and the „Compact with Africa Initiative“ of the German G20 presidency. Both initiatives put a new focus on private investments and their role for the sustainable development of 1. the African continent, and 2. the relationship between Germany and its African partners. However, the government’s budget plans foresee a reduction of the ODA (Official Development Assistance) Quote after 2019. Dr. Maria Flachsbarth, new Secretary of State in the BMZ, will join us to discuss current priorities in her ministry’s Africa policy.
Speakers:
- Dr Maria Flachsbarth, Member of the German Parliament, State Secretary in the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development
- Dr Ingrid Hamm, Co-Founder and CEO Global Perspectives Initiative
- Volkmar Klein, Development Policy Spokesman CDU/CSU Parliamentary Group and Member of the Board Deutsche Afrika Stiftung
- Prof. Renate Köcher, CEO Institut für Demoskopie Allensbach
Moderation:
- Dr Ingrid Hamm, Co-Founder and CEO Global Perspectives Initiative
