Politics Briefing: Climate Change and Migration in Sub-Saharan Africa
April 13, 2021
online / Zoom
with Christoph Matschie
Extreme weather events such as floods and storms, as well as long-term developments like droughts, water shortages, and rising sea levels, are forcing people to leave their homes. How are African countries addressing these issues? What responsibility does Europe bear?
These and other questions were the center of our conference, “Climate Change and Migration: Point of No Return?!,” held in December – bringing together high-ranking representatives from politics, science, and civil society. During a subsequent discussion with parliamentarians, we explored key findings in greater depth and discussed possible courses of action for German policy.
