Africa’s Creative Pulse

August 22, 2024

Baret, Berlin

Africa’s creative industries are booming and already changing the global cultural landscape. Nollywood, the world’s second largest film industry, generates $1.2 billion a year, while music, art and architecture are also flourishing.

The growing industry is creating space for new narratives and opening up opportunities in the job market. Together with Nollywood director Funke Akindele, writer and poet Lola Shoneyin and our guests, we discussed the global influence on art, culture, identity and the economy. Following the salon, the German premiere of Akindele’s new film ‘A Tribe Called Judah’ took place at the Humboldt Forum, after a talk with the director.
