Circle: Accelerating Change through Impact Investing in Africa
December 13, 2021
online / via Zoom
Africa is considered a market of the future, shaped by a young, growing urban population and abundant natural resources. Yet many German investors still view engagement on the continent as risky. This is where impact investing comes in. It combines financial returns with measurable benefits for the environment and society, driving sustainable change. Guided by the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), impact investing supports sectors such as education, health, agriculture, infrastructure, renewable energy, and climate adaptation. We discussed the associated challenges and opportunities together with Phineo, representatives from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the Federal Ministry of Finance (BMF), as well as the KfW, the BMW Foundation, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and investors.
