Jobs and Migration

Creating a Win-Win Situation for Africa and Europe

Jobs and Migration

March 10, 2020

Paul-Löbe-Haus

with Christoph Matschie

Migration can benefit both the African and European labour markets. Europe needs more skilled workers from abroad, and migration could stimulate economic growth in African countries.

The German government’s new Skilled Immigration Act is a step in this direction. In our policy paper, “Jobs and Migration: An African Perspective,” we set out which additional measures are required.

We want to expand the dialogue with policymakers in Germany and discussed ways of strengthening African labour markets and creating legal, safe migration pathways.
