The Covid-19 pandemic has made one thing clear: economies that rely heavily on fossil fuel exports are especially vulnerable to economic shocks, and Africa is no exception. Transitioning to a more climate-friendly model could strengthen resilience and reduce long-term dependencies.
Although challenges remain, the pandemic has also opened up new opportunities. Africa has an opportunity to lead a green economic recovery. So, what will it take to ensure that growth is sustainable?
We explored this question in conversation with experts from Africa and Europe, discussing how governments and businesses on the ground can take action and what kind of support they expect from the international community.
